The Void
The void in between,
unfelt, unseen.
Cold or mean?
Either way, learned to wean,
of the need, the crave.
Learned to save,
self-image that wouldn’t fade.
So careful, yet afraid
to lose the life made.
For all the dues paid,
in return, received pain,
over and over again.
Had to close the door,
to love, feelings and more.
But the idea is absurd.
Not love, but the fear playing the roll;
keeping heart in control,
from allowing it to fall
in love even with the best of all.
Distant one seems,
while apprehension reveals
the vulnerable innocence,
the blissful essence.
Forceful to avoid,
the silent desire to fill the void!
